When you buy a clock you will probably find that they are made of veneers.  Some exotic woods can be expensive so purchasing leaves can make your project less expensive but the finished products are very unique clocks.  Sometimes though you may not be able to obtain the veneer locally so you may have to order it in so take that time factor into consideration if you are working to a time frame.

I am not going into detail here about making your own unique clocks as there are some places online you can go to that are experts and I am certainly not.  One site I like is Clock-plans.com which has some great designs and patterns to follow.

What you will need to finish your unique clock is the movements and other clock parts.  There are many online stores that sell dials, hands, movements and accessories such as hangers and hardware such as nuts and gaskets.   You can also get complete clock maker kits if you decide that the case shell you want is too advanced for you to manage or you like the metal cases.   Clockparts.com is the perfect place to find whatever you need to find these things and finish your project.

After completing your first clock you can then go on to make many more unique clocks with the knowledge you gained from your first.  You are now quickly becoming an expert!
