Why are Digital clocks so popular?

stove clockDigital clocks have become the most popular clocks in most homes with most people having an alarm clock in the bedroom which is digital.  Although kitchen clocks are mainly the more popular analog wall clocks there are digital clocks on your appliances and electronic devices.

These digital clocks are wireless, running on batteries or plugged into electricity, and some are both with the battery being the backup power source.  They can usually give you standard 12 hour time or military style 24 hour time.

Most of the digital clocks we have in the kitchen are small.  The smallest being in pens and the larger ones mounted on the wall.  Most digital clocks are LED (light emitting diode) which enables us to read the display and which is a good feature at night. They often have a choice of red, yellow and sometimes green LED displays or brightness levels you can adjust. Some also display the date or are timers and these are good features for kitchen clocks.

The coolest kitchen clocks I have seen were digital ones that had a moving display showing the current temperature.  I think I would like of those on a hot summer's afternoon after cooking all day for a special event. Having an alternating temperature and time display is also a nice feature.

Digital clocks are probably so popular because they are easy to read.  Some of the best kitchen clocks at reasonable prices are found on eBay and there is a dedicated search on this site where you can check them out, and it is located here to the right of this post -->
