Some people find it difficult to decorate a child's room but to me it's fun. Kids clocks are a great addition to their room. Of course, the way you decorate will be different for girls, boys, a nursery or even a playroom.

Adding a kids clock when you are decorating can add beauty, novelty and a bit of fun and it is also a practical item for their bedroom. You can teach them to tell the time on their own clock and you can practice with them in their own space. A clock is also a practical item for a nursery where timing may be more important than a older child's bedroom.

There are so many styles and colors and designs to choose from. Mantle and wall clocks are the most popular kids clocks and I especially love a mantle clock if you have a shelf or cupboard to put it on in their bedroom.

Girls love the pretty or themed clocks like princesses, flowers, fairies or ballerina designs. Even simple plain colors or stripes look good. Boys rooms tend to be decorator in brighter or deeper colors and they like designs like cars, trains, rockets, animals, planes, balls and sport themes.

Nursery styles usually use more pastel colors and there are many clocks to suit these rooms. Family rooms though are when you really can have fun with decorating and adding funky fun clocks.

Whatever child's room you are decorating don't forget to add a kids clock.

I came across the video about a kitchen clock and it struck a cord in me. It is sweetly sung and about a family, especially the father, struggling through life to provide for the family. Watch and listen as I am sure you will enjoy it too.

The humble kitchen clock is an average household item but it sometimes has significance in our lives such as memories of watching the clock for a special event to start or counting down the time to New Year. I remember many a time when I was young watching our kitchen clock waiting for a date to arrive, and at other times for the Sunday Lunch to come out of the oven.

My family home has had many kitchen clocks but all but one was an analogue clock and frankly I prefer them to digital any day. The most memorable was a lime green frying pan shaped clock we had in the 70s. I wish I had a picture of it to share with you but it is long gone now. I also remember when I was first married and we lived in a Unit with the people above us owning a cuckoo kitchen clock. Well that took us about a month to get used to and these memories you never forget (or the lost sleep).

I hope your memories are happy ones.

You wont have to rely on a wake up call that never comes if you carry your own travel clock with you.

I never go on vacation without my own travel clock. I use my own travel clock as an alarm mainly, and I then know I will make that day tour on time or get to breakfast before it closes or make it to the airport when I need to.

Hotels usually have clocks but aren't always easy to adjust or keep good time. I don't usually take my cell phone but when I do I use that as a back up alarm to my travel clock. My clock is a digital one but they come in analogue as well. I recommend one that has a back light so you can read it in the dark.

Space is tight in my suitcase so my alarm clock is very small but still very reliable and effective. You can get models that fold up and form a stand so you can see the clock easier and ones that are very slim so they don't take up much space. My travel clock is battery operated and you will find most are, so I do take back up batteries just in case, but so far haven't needed them.

Travel clocks can also have other features like calculators, a torch (to help you get to the bathroom), a currency converter and a calendar. I have never needed those features as long as it had an alarm and a snooze button I was OK.

Travel clocks are inexpensive and on eBay you can get a bargain from only a dollar or two. Be sure to look at the features that you need and the size of the clock before bidding. If you want reliability and accuracy I probably wouldn't buy a second hand vintage clock to use for travel.

You wont have to rely on a wake up call that never comes if you carry your own travel clock with you. It is only a small investment but I can assure you that you will take it on every vacation you go on both business and pleasure.

Wind up clocks are still popular especially with alarm clocks. The mainspring is what powers the clock and if you are sick of waking up late or missing an important meeting then wind up clocks will not desert you when the electricity or batteries do.

There are two parts to a wind up clock and they are the spring which is usually a steel coil and the torsion pendulum which is another spring.

The main popular types of clocks that have wind up mechanisms are alarm clocks, cuckoo clocks, mantle clocks and pendulum clocks.

To wind up your clock turn it over and you will find the visible knobs or in older clocks it may even be a key. If you have an alarm clock make it a rule to give it a wind every night before you go to sleep. Don't worry about over-winding it as that is a myth. You will probably find you can only wind it so far anyway.

The cost of wind up clocks vary with the most inexpensive being the alarm clocks and the most expensive being the larger and sometimes antique or unique pendulum or mantle clocks.

If you have a wind up clock you will never have to worry about electrical blackouts or flat batteries again and you are reducing the battery waste so helping the environment as well. See some of the clocks below for a great bargain.

Daylight saving time started for most of the United States and Canada on Sunday, 8 March 2009 at 2 am and will revert to standard time on Sunday, 1 November 2009. Europe though as a whole started the last Sunday of March and finishes the last Sunday of October so they a few weeks less than the US.

In the Southern Hemisphere daylight saving will starts in October with Australia starting Sunday, 4 October at 2 am. New Zealand started on 27 September at 2 am while Chile starts on 11 October at midnight and Argentina and Brazil on 18 October also at midnight.

Moving clocks forward at the beginning of daylight saving and then back at the end can be confusing if you try and convert the time back to standard time. You hear people commenting "It's really only 10 am and not 11 am" when it's easier to accept the current time and adjust your life accordingly.

It may be a hassle changing the clocks if you have many in the house like I do, besides the many watches and even the cell phones, but remember it's only twice a year you need to do this. Why not mark it on your calendar to change the clocks, watches and the even the smoke detectors that way you can't forget.

If you wake up at the same time everyday then you will probably wake up at standard time for awhile so make sure you set your alarm clock until your internal one catches up. I make sure by having two alarm clocks for about a month so that I am not late for work.

Just don't forget to change the clock.

Many current clocks we use are run on electricity. Electricity was one of only a few unique and brilliant ideas that has had a practical impact on our living conditions.

The electric clock was invented in 1837 but the idea had been around much earlier, the only problem being reducing it's size as to be practical. With the spread of industrialization good timekeeping became more important.

Today the choices for electric clocks are huge. My choice though for alarm clocks is one that runs on a combination of mains power and battery in case the electricity is cut for some reason. In the kitchen I would choose some of the ultra modern models.

Some of the advantages of electric clocks are:
1. Reliable
2. Accurate
3. No upkeep
4. Large range
5. Reasonable Cost

Disadvantages are:
1. Cut in power causes clock to stop or lose time
2. Needs a power point or installation
3. Installation adds to overall cost

Whatever you decide, an electric clock will keep good time and be reliable for many years to come. Look at the large range of styles there are in electric clocks. Check out our eBay auction on this page for clock bargains -->

The atomic clock is the ultimate timekeeper. If you are looking for precise accuracy then this clock is the one for you.

The atomic clock is the ultimate timekeeper. The first accurate atomic clock was used in 1955 and was built in England. This atomic clock could keep time to an accuracy of one second in 3000 years. If you are looking for precise accuracy then this clock is the one for you. I know you don't need this level of accuracy but it is nice to know you have it.

The clocks use a radio signal and are linked to the US Government atomic clock located in Colorado which is considered the official US time. Our clocks tune into the signal from Colorado, decodes it and resets the time on each clock accordingly. This is usually done at least once a day.

The original atomic clocks were huge and ugly (as in image above) but nowadays they are the same size as regular clocks and more simply styled but still attractive to the eye. The alarm clocks though I think I like the best as they look really smart and modern. You often find them in stainless steel, chrome and aluminum. You can get atomic clocks in clear, easy to read analogue and digital dials.

One of my favorite brands is La Crosse as they are well styled and are attractive clocks. Finding the most suitable atomic clock for your needs is simple these days as there are many stores online and for a large range of inexpensive clocks check out eBay auctions like the one below.

There should be no problem finding a wall clock that will meet your needs as there are many styles and sizes to choose from very small thin clocks to the more bulky cuckoo clocks.

If you have a small kitchen then decorating it can sometimes be challenging. Finding the right clock though doesn't have to be one of those concerns as there are so many on the market that can meet your needs. Have you thought about a small clock?

As you have limited bench space in a small kitchen then wall clocks are probably going to be your best option. They save the valuable space on your bench and decorate a bare wall that may be not big enough to anything else with.

There should be no problem finding a wall clock that will meet your needs as there are many styles and sizes to choose from very small thin clocks to the more bulky cuckoo clocks. If you have a long thin wall then a small pendulum clock will be a good choice.

Make sure wherever you are going to hand your clock it can be seen easily from several locations in the kitchen. Your new small clock has to have a good position in the kitchen to be functional for your everyday use.

There are so many styles to choose from and so many colors and materials that I am sure you will find the right one for your decorating needs. One of the best places to find them is an eBay Auction where you can check clocks in your location and price range easily. Check the auction here on this site for great small clock deals-->

Clocks are important items to own as most people can't get through their normal day without knowing what the time is. We refer to them constantly and we plan our whole day around what time we are doing things. Most of us use alarm clocks to get us to work on time each day.

We don't see wind up clocks anymore in the marketplace unless they are antique ones and most now are electronic. That is because they are reliable, easy to use and cheap to run. They are also inexpensive to buy. Of course if you want quality or brand names you have to be prepared to pay more for them.

Most clocks plug into power or are run by batteries and some you can use either way and these are very useful when the power fails or you are traveling. Some have large displays so you can see them easier or they have a back light to see the time in the dark.

To find the cheapest clocks you only to go to the internet and there you will find any type of alarm clock you need. eBay is the perfect place for this and here on Kitchen Clock we have a current auction on kitchen clocks going on (starting 23 August).

We find we refer to clocks everyday and mostly several times a day. Its not only us that has to live by strict time schedules, its also our family and we make sure they get to their activities on time. In the home its the bedroom alarm clock, the kitchen wall clock even to the one in your car and to the one when you clock in at work.

You can't avoid the clocks in your life and really if you did you would be perpetually late for everything.
